Daily pre-use vehicle check

A daily vehicle check sheet for the driver

Record the check at the start of a day or shift and any defects observed. The sheet keeps the driver, inspection time and vehicle-use decision status available to the fleet custodian.

A defect observed before departure needs reporting and assessment before use.

Recommended next step

The responsible person assesses the defect before departure and records the action and decision taken.

The checklist documents entered checks and decisions; it is not an authorisation or official inspection.

How to complete the report

  1. Identify the vehicle and driver and record the inspection time before departure.
  2. Work through accessible points, record defects and state what was not checked.
  3. Report findings to the responsible person and document the vehicle-use decision status in the PDF.

Questions about this report

Does the sheet automatically authorise the vehicle to depart?

No. Responsible people decide after assessing defects and applicable requirements. A completed form does not replace that assessment.

Can I record no defects found?

Yes, where supported by the checks performed. Items not checked must remain distinct.

Is this the same as a periodic fleet inspection?

The daily check records driver observations before vehicle use. The periodic fleet sheet also focuses on following up repairs, responsibilities and target dates.

Can I add my workshop logo and colours to the report?

Yes, on paid reports: choose the style (modern, classic for print, your workshop colour, minimalist, premium or sport), the colour, header details, your own numbering, the technician signature and stamp, plus a message, terms and IBAN. Free reports use the standard OBDAuto design.
